Made in Whitstable to rent a HUT from the HARBOUR VILLAGE

for summer 2011!

Please use this FORUM for ideas and queries.

Meeting with the Whitstable Harbour Village Manager has been fruitful as an offer has been made.

We will take the hut for 3 months from June 2011 £250.00 per month!

Hope you'll all find this exciting and that we'll see lots of our members in the hut this summer selling and exhibiting.

PS Footfall during a sunny weekend exceeds 10 000 people!

Minna will not be directly involved so please get your initiatives flying and get a team of people together to make it happen!

Comments with regards to Bruces Keams Yard Gallery should be left on FORUM titled, just that!

I also think Jan did a great job in organising the hut in such a short time.  I thought it very disappointing that there were such few sales overall after six weeks but perhaps this was due to the time of the year and the weather.  Also, maybe, the size of the hut with no lighting was a deterrent to folks entering.  I am pleased that Chris did so well.  I have reservations about joining into the next venture but it depends when/if the small huts are ready.  I doubt they will be in place to catch the Oyster Fest. but hope they may be.

Yes, thanks to all involved for making it happen.

The feedback I received from people who came to the Hut makes me think the lack of lighting was definitely a factor. Either uninviting when there was no sun outside, or too much of a difference in lighting when entering from blazing sunshine so people had to adjust their eyes for a few seconds!

Chris, no problem at all covering your shift and hope your brother is on the mend. I did the early shift on the last Sunday and sold one of your pieces, the customer said he'd been spurred on by the fact we were closing that day so perhaps that explains why you sold everything then? I only sold a couple of pieces but got good feedback and met some new MIW members too. I'd still be interested in taking on a small hut with other members for the remainder of the season if one became available.

Hello,

does anyone know if there is any news on the possibility of a new small hut? We recieved an email from Stuart Heaver  which talked about new huts but they seemed to be for local food producers - are these the ones, and are they still open to arts/crafts as well? And is anyone in made in whitstable still interested in the possibility of having a hut????

Anyone that knows anything, please let us know!

Just got an update from Harbour Village today - will have to read it through though and pop the bulletins up for you all. Watch this space!!!

I have just received a newsletter from Stuart as well. It does sound at first as if he is just targeting food producers, but he also says there are other vacancies from September. I'd like to know if his discount offer to MiW still applies.
