Hi im not sure we are any closer to working out what's happened despite everyone's best efforts. Are we going to meet up? when i asked the person to pay by credit card (£50) for the artists boat etching, she went and did so at the desk and I wrote it in the book as you can see but I didn't know anything about a slip!! She was doing this just as Josephine came to swop over.

Also paul when the £29 comes through can you keep this for the assembly 2 show in April please and I will make up the difference.

Also message for Sam - I can't help feeling y0ur jewellery is very vulnerable to theft. When I came for my stint for 10am there were already several people in the gallery unsupervised. Perhaps we should consider making the rota start earlier or you could keep your more expensive items on the desk and under the desk when noone is in the gallery. I know we all like to believe people wont steal but .... Alma yours are abit noiser to remove!

Fair enough Sam. It was all getting a bit confusing on this message board with everybody trying to remember what happened.

I'll have to sort mine out with them directly as I've got the piece of paper that was written out and they want to see the handwriting to try and figure out what happened.  I'll try and drop my pound off hopefully on Tuesday.

Please don't harass the Horsebridge about payments etc. We cause them enough headaches as a group!  I'm suggesting credit card payment as possible reason for screw ups. Lesson learned for next time. I will deal with the Horsebridge for these two shows and ask about credit card payments. Tracie was paid in cash - the discrepancy is NOT WITH TRACIE's payment but with another payment somewhere in the book - if any. As I've stated if for some reason a payment was written down in the book as paid but not by credit card even though it was and a slip was not put into the book then a problem occurs. If it's ok I would rather everybody just paid a £1 and then we iron out other problems later. We are looking to cover about £5 now as roughly 5 people have handed money in. Let's just make sure this doesn't happen next time.

Can we arrange the meet when the next show occurs?
It seems pointless now and i have far too much going on organizing open House and various other projects.
Sorry if I seem a bit of a grump.

Thanks Sam, that would be a great help.
I've just left my £1 at the HB too.

Sorry - only just picked this up. I'm also down from the first show as I had someone who paid by card and handwritten note was stapled in the book but not one of the proper Horsebridge slips.  I have spoken to someone there and agreed I'll bring in the piece of paper with the information on and she can track it down from the totals on the credit card machine according to the date.  They've got a book at reception where they write all the cc sales as well. Perhaps they can use one of these methods to track down Tracie's money if this is what has happened to the balance for the chair.  I had to ask them and they dug out the cheque for me so it might be a simple case that there is an envelope with a cheque for Tracie in it.

I am happy (if everyone agrees) to write out an instruction sheet with info on how to pay and how to record things in the book and what happens with the money and credit card payments so we can keep it in the front of the book for next time so people who might not have done it will know what to do.  Also, am happy to supply a book and envelopes so each day a total amount can be put in the envelope if that helps.

My £1 with the HB

Comment by Sue Clinker on March 15, 2013 at 11:51am

We took card payment for one picture from the outside window 'The Beach' £200.  The slip was put in artist envelope and book marked as card sale.    Sorry can't remember artist name - his work was next to Bruce's

Sorry, Paul.  In early message I said you'd paid for the wine separately by cheque.  My mistake, you paid cash.  Don't want to confuse the issue any more

I'm getting a bit confused now.   I left £2 at HB for wine/float at end of exhibition as you were going to deduct it from the wine payment but didn't.  Do I owe you/MIW a further £1?    No problem if so but I'm not back in Whitstable for 3 weeks so I'll be late paying in.

Cheers

How about a total that is made after each invigilation.   The cash that is in the box at the beginning of each persons invigilation period and any sales during their time added on.   Then if there is any discrepancy we can tell immediately.   All it would mean would be that each person checks the amount in the tin with the running total and then again when they hand over.
